The situation in the Gaza Strip is taking a turn for the worse. The United Nations indicates that this is a very dangerous situation. Israel has now escalated its offensive operations. A refugee camp in the north and a hospital in the south of Gaza have been destroyed by a strong attack recently (17). Some reports revealed that the hospital had become a pile of dust.
Massive attack on a refugee camp
The attack on the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern part of the Gaza Strip was a heartbreaking moment for many. About 90 Palestinians have lost their lives in that attack, and 24 members of the same family have died on the spot in a missile attack on a house. The missile attack hit the home of Dawoodi Shehab, a spokesperson for the Islamic Jihad organisation, which supports the Hamas organisation. Dawoodi Shehab’s son was also killed in the attack. However, many buildings near the house of Islamic Jihad spokesperson Dawoodi Shehab have been destroyed by these attacks. It has not been possible to save the people trapped in the rubble and gasping for breath due to the continuous Israeli attacks.
In the central part of the Gaza Strip, Deir-al-Balah, Rafah city, and nearby areas can be identified as the areas under heavy attack. Attacks on houses have been the reason for the increase in the number of deaths. Gazans have claimed that Israeli attacks have become as powerful and terrifying as earthquakes.
Protecting civilians – Israel says
However, the Israeli government says that the attacks are targeting terrorist members. The Israeli government also says that measures have been taken to minimise the damage caused to civilians. Israel is currently launching operations in Gaza using several methods, including warplanes, tanks, and rocket-propelled grenades. Israeli forces have announced that they have found rocket-producing devices and 03 tunnel entrances built by Hamas.
Is the protection of civilians just a word?
The city of Khan Younis can be identified as another area where Israeli attacks are taking place. An Israeli attack was also carried out on the maternity clinic building of Nasir Hospital in the same city, and a 13-year-old girl was also killed on the spot. It is reported that in the earlier attacks on Khan Younis city, her father and mother, along with two brothers and sisters, were also killed, and she also lost a leg in those attacks. However, the death of that girl who was under severe pressure can be identified as the tragedy of the Gaza invasion.
20,000 dead in Gaza
The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks has exceeded 20,000. Suppose these statistics announced by the Gaza health authorities are correct. In that case, it is a severe problem whether the lives of the civilians have been confirmed, as Israel claims. Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City operated as the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip before the Israeli attacks. However, the World Health Organization points out that the hospital has become a pool of blood. Hundreds of injured Palestinians are hospitalised. A situation has also been created where more wounded people are brought in every minute. Due to the lack of comfort, the injured have to be treated without painkillers and even anaesthetic drugs. The World Health Organization points out that this dark period in which Gaza’s lives are suffering is very pathetic.
Twenty out of twenty-four hospitals will be crippled
Although there are 24 hospitals established in the northern area of the Gaza Strip, the number of hospitals functioning to some extent has decreased to 04. The World Health Organization concludes that their condition is also not satisfactory. The Israeli army has also taken steps to bulldoze the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip, and the World Health Organization has emphasised that this is a very inhuman act. The organisation has also launched an information-gathering program regarding the incident.
Information has been revealed that Israel has taken steps to destroy the hospital due to the disclosure of information that the Hamas organisation is using the hospital. There are also reports of a plan to implement another ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and release the hostages, but how it will work is still a matter of doubt. Earlier, a 7-day ceasefire was implemented in the Gaza Strip, and steps were taken to free about a hundred hostages, and Qatar coordinated the program.
Negotiations for a ceasefire again
However, a situation is being observed in which various countries and organisations of the world are presenting proposals to declare another ceasefire and enter into a program to release the hostages and protect the rights of the ordinary people in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, recently (18), a proposal to compel Israel and Hamas to increase access to aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip was taken to the United Nations Security Council for voting. The proposal states that under the supervision of the United Nations, the Gaza Strip should be given space to provide humanitarian aid by land, sea and air. However, it is also clear that the opinion of the United States of America, which has the power of veto, is a decisive factor in adopting this resolution. This is because it is up to the American decision to pass or reject the resolution.
However, the United Arab Emirates has submitted the proposal and emphasised that America should also support adopting the relevant proposal. The Emirate has already taken steps to start diplomatic-level discussions for that.
