Journey from Thailand
A Jeju Aeroplane travelling from Bangkok, Thailand, to Muahn Airport in South Korea was recently involved in an accident. The incident occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land at the airport.
It has been determined that poor weather conditions and a bird strike caused the accident. Videos clearly show that the landing gear was not functioning, which resulted in the plane skidding off the runway and catching fire. Investigations are underway with the retrieval of flight data from the aircraft’s black box and cockpit voice recordings.
This incident is considered one of South Korea’s most severe air disasters. In response, the South Korean government declared a seven-day mourning period. Leaders from several countries have also expressed their condolences to the South Korean government regarding the tragedy.
Shocking Air Disaster- Russian President Apologises
Meanwhile, a highly distressing incident is the crash of a passenger aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines. It has been revealed that a missile strike by the Russian military caused this disaster, leading to significant turmoil in Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has acknowledged that the aircraft was hit by a missile, claiming it was a mistake attributed to an enemy drone from the Ukrainian military. Additionally, the Russian government and military have apologised for this incident.
In light of this situation, several Azerbaijani airlines have suspended flights to Russian cities until the investigation into the crash is concluded. The U.S. intelligence community first disclosed that a missile attack launched by Russia caused the crash.
When attacked, the aircraft was flying from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Chechnya. At the time of the strike, were 67 people on board, with 38 fatalities and 29 survivors.
In honour of those who lost their lives, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev proclaimed a day of mourning. The White House issued a statement asserting that Russia is responsible for the downing of the Azerbaijan Airlines flight, which crashed on December 25, killing 38 people.
The statement indicated that the U.S. would support the investigation into the accident. The plane was reportedly attempting to land in Chechnya before being redirected over the Caspian Sea towards Kazakhstan when it was attacked.
The plane exploded in a ball of fire
The Kremlin initially declined to comment. However, the head of Russia’s civil aviation agency said that special monitoring of aircraft was necessary due to Ukrainian drone attacks in the region. Kazakhstan authorities also issued a statement saying that 38 people had died in the accident.
The plane, belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, crashed near the city of Aktau and caught fire. Footage shows the plane descending at high speed as it prepares to land. The video also shows it exploding in a huge ball of fire seconds after it began to attempt to land. Russian reports say the plane hit a flock of birds before crashing, but other countries have not accepted this.
Most of the people on board were Azerbaijanis, but there were also people from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 was flying from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, when the accident occurred.
It had been diverted to another city due to thick fog, and the accident occurred then. Both Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have launched investigations into the cause of the accident. Embraer, which manufactured the plane, is also supporting the investigation.
A Canadian plane crashes
Meanwhile, a Canadian plane also crashed. The plane was landing at Halifax Airport in Canada. However, no one was killed in the accident. Canada also says that Russia is behind these plane crashes and that it is time to further expand the existing security mechanisms for air travel.
