A terrible humanitarian crisis has been created in the Gaza Strip due to Israel’s continuous attacks. Although the world community, including the United Nations, insists that there should be a pause in the constant attacks, Israel is not interested in paying even a shred of attention to those demands.
They are attacked at will, and the Israeli authorities say that these attacks are aimed at terrorists. However, suppose such an attack is carried out with such a purpose. How can ordinary people and children die in hundreds? It has become a matter that the international community is asking.
Children starve to death
The operation aimed at the Gaza Strip has now been completed for 05 months. Also, the World Health Organization points out that the condition of Palestinian children in the northern Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli sanctions and continuous attacks, is deplorable.
The organisation says that many children are dying of hunger. For the first time since October 2023, a delegation of the World Health Organization made a monitoring visit to Al-Awda and Kamal-Adwan hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip and the surrounding areas. The matters revealed there were so strong that they shocked human hearts.
By releasing a report, the World Health Organization has indicated that highly tragic events were observed here. The sight of starving children dying while they are watching and the way children with serious injuries are suffering and dying in great pain.
Hindering relief operations – Israel accused of
The reports also indicate that a large number of children who were receiving treatment at the Kamal Advan Hospital died of starvation, and the injured had to face death due to the power cut.
The World Health Organization has emphasised that although a request has been made by the Israeli government to allow for the safe and continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilians of the Gaza Strip, including children, the World Health Organization has emphasised that it has not yet received a proper response.
Some reports, citing the Hamas Health Ministry, stated that 15 children died of malnutrition and dehydration at Kamal-Adwan Hospital. Also, the health ministry of Hamas, which says that the condition of the hospitals in the southern city of Rafah is deplorable, has pointed out that the difficulty in providing food for the children has been the most vital problem.
Eight hundred thousand displaced
Hospital buildings have been destroyed by Israeli attacks. Procuring food, medicine, or medical supplies has also become problematic. The 300,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza are currently facing severe hardships. It has not been possible to provide space for sanitation, and food and water are inadequate.
Around 576,000 Palestinian civilians across the Gaza Strip face severe food insecurity. The United Nations has indicated that one out of every 06 children is malnourished, and the most extraordinary thing is that these nutritional problems have occurred in 05 months since the beginning of this invasion.
UNICEF points out that another group of people in the world are suffering from a situation that humans could have prevented. Even though the situation is very inhumane and it is being implemented as a war against terrorism, it is the ordinary people who are not terrorists who are suffering. UNICEF has strongly emphasised that.
Even though various projects are being implemented as remedies for the food crisis in the Gaza Strip, UNICEF has also emphasised that the related grants are not enough to prevent the situation from arising or to control it to some extent. Although America, Britain, France, Egypt, and Jordan have taken measures to drop food parcels from the air, it has been observed that the food does not reach the conflict areas.
Israel uses maximum force against Palestinians
Meanwhile, another severe accusation against Israel is that it is working to completely undermine the UN relief mission in the Gaza Strip. The head of Palestine Relief Operations, Filipe Lazzarani, has pointed out that aid-giving countries have also become discouraged due to Israel’s continuous interference.
The international community has strongly condemned the Israeli army’s shooting of a group of Palestinian civilians who were hoping to get food from Gaza City. The Israeli military opened fire on a group of people who were staying near the Kuwait roundabout in Gaza City, and it has not been possible to reveal the number of people killed in those attacks so far.
Israeli airstrikes also continue to hit Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, which Israel claims is safe for civilians in the Gaza Strip. However, the United Nations points out that it is totally unacceptable for Israel to claim that the general population is secure.
The organisation has also emphasised that 17 civilians have lost their lives in such an air attack recently . Houses have been into the rubble by ongoing Israeli bombardment, and Palestinians are digging in the ground with their hands in search of survivors.
In the current situation, it can be observed that Israel is using its maximum force against the Palestinians. Human Rights Watch’s director of Israel and Palestine, Omar Shakir, has pointed out that the maximum of the decades-long status quo is now being implemented.
He has also emphasised that this situation, which is illegally using excessive force against unarmed Palestinians, cannot be justified in any way.
30,534 Palestinians have died in 05 months
It is estimated that 30,534 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli attacks since the beginning of the occupation of Gaza. The number of casualties from the attacks was 71,920. 1139 people died in the attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7. Israel had reported that 8730 people were injured there. Also, the Hamas organisation has taken 253 hostages in the Gaza Strip.
Sexual harassment in Hamas
Meanwhile, the accusations against the behaviour and activities of the Hamas organisation are also grave. It is a fact that the United Nations has also pointed out the opinion that sexual violence, including corruption and gang rape, took place during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. It has been revealed in the preliminary investigations.
The United Nations Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflicts conducted a particular study on it under the leadership of Pramila Patton. In this study, which has been carried out in the areas under the control of Hamas in Israel, it has been confirmed that there are also people who were subjected to sexual violence during the Hamas attack.
It has now been discovered that sexual violence has taken place in the Israeli colonies located close to the Gaza Strip as well as the roads captured by the Hamas organisation.
The expectation of the global community
In this situation, the global community will not try to justify Hamas at all. They point out that there would be no problem if these attacks occurred while isolating Hamas. However, the Gaza Strip’s civilians and children should not become the targets of firearms in attacks aimed at Hamas.
Therefore, although it is not a problem to operate against Hamas or any other terrorist organisation, the international community points out that the safety of civilians must be ensured in such operations.
