A great tragedy in Gaza – 2000 children killed in a fortnight

International organisations say that the situation in the Gaza Strip is dire. Save the Children International has indicated that around 2,000 children have lost their lives so far. The reports show that these deaths have occurred during the last fortnight’s severe attacks by Israel. Meanwhile, Save the Children International has also indicated that the total number of Gazans who have died in the last fortnight’s attacks exceeds 5,000.
Israel Aims to End Hamas
While the airstrikes on the Gaza Strip continue, steps are being taken to intensify the attacks, and the United Nations emphasises that a severe humanitarian crisis is being created in this situation. A recent night attack on a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip killed 140 Palestinians. In the meantime, the Israeli security forces have issued a statement and emphasised that no decision has been taken to reduce the intensity or number of attacks. The announcement was made by the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, which indicated that the ground attack operation would begin soon. It has been emphasised that the Israeli army is fully prepared for that. Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has warned that Israel aims to eradicate the Hamas organisation and that the attacks targeting the Hamas organisation may be merciless.

Delay in international intervention to solve the problem.
When international human rights organisations point out the need to reduce the destruction, some states support Israel, and others support Palestine. International commentators point out that instead of expressing support to each country separately, the world should unite for an international intervention to end this rift that has been going on for many years. The American president, as well as the British prime minister, came to Israel to express their support for Israel.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron also came to Tel Aviv, Israel, to express France’s full support for Israel. However, he made a statement and said that he was negotiating with the Israeli authorities for an actual peace process. It can be argued that this is a positive effort to some extent. Moreover, it is a good precedent.
Are Biden and Obama on two minds?
Also, former President Obama made a remarkable statement regarding Israel’s activities. He has pointed out that using force beyond Israel to suppress Hamas is not appropriate. Former President Obama has warned that the Israeli strategy of carrying out severe attacks regardless of the human lives of Palestinians may be harmful to Israel in the long run.
“The loss of access to food, water and electricity to the residents of the Gaza Strip has led to a severe humanitarian crisis. It will cause future generations of Palestinians to have a negative attitude toward Israel. It could also translate into a matter of negative impact on Israel globally. Achieving long-term peace and stability in the region can remain a dream,” former President Barack Obama has emphasised.
However, US President Joe Biden has said this is not the right time for a ceasefire. These matters make it clear that the former and current presidents have different opinions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. So far, there is no clear opinion on how it should be adjusted. The international media had reported that the White House has also refused to express a position on the ideological situation that has been created regarding the positions of Obama and Biden.

Iran is also restless.
Meanwhile, Iran is also observing a situation in which it favours Hamas. The United States accuses Iran of using the Hezbollah organisation to initiate this operation. The United States has accused Iran of actively supporting the Hezbollah organisation for launching rocket and drone attacks on American military bases in Iraq and Syria.
The White House has also reported that President Joe Biden has ordered the US Department of Defence to respond immediately if Iran does not change its stance. After the start of the Israeli-Hamas conflict, the United States directed its marines to the Middle East region with around 2,000 naval forces.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a proposal submitted by the United States to the UN Security Council regarding the Israeli-Hamas conflict also includes information regarding Iran. “Iran must take steps to prevent the provision of weapons and military power to extremist groups with immediate effect,” is the position of the United States. America should take measures to provide humanitarian aid to the civilians of the Gaza Strip, and for that, they should enter into a ceasefire. Another thing was pointed out.
However, Iran has vehemently opposed the American proposal. Iran has emphasised that America has no right to challenge its state. Iran has also asked Russia and China, who have veto power in the UN Security Council, to defeat this resolution.
In this situation, it is clear that an official and unofficial global situation has been created in which the world powers are also involved in the problem. It is international recognition that China and Russia will never support Israel. Also, Russia has already made comments strongly criticising the offensive situation facing the Gaza Strip. Actually, this is not a problem for the people of East Asia and Palestine, but it is a part of the power struggle of the world powers. It should be after a proper comparison of global behaviour.
