Joe Root climbs to third place in Test rankings

The ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings have been updated, and there are some significant changes worth noting. Joe Root, the former captain of the England cricket team, has once again made it to the top three positions, thanks to his impressive performance in the fourth match of the ICC World Test Championship series.

Root, who was once the top-ranked batter, scored an unbeaten 122 in the first innings of the match, which helped him move up two places to the third position, leaving behind Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson. 

Yashasivi Jaiswal is fast forward amongst Test batsmen

Another notable mention is of India’s opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has shown tremendous improvement and has advanced towards the top 10 positions after his stellar performance in the exact match.

Jaiswal, who started the series in the 69th position, has climbed up three places and is now in the 12th position. He scored 73 and 37 in the two innings, which helped him gain crucial points and move closer to the top 10 positions. 

The fourth match of the ICC World Test Championship series was held in Ranchi, and India won the match by five wickets, taking a 3-1 lead in the five-match series. This victory has helped India strengthen their position in the ICC World Test Championship standings.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that Root has also climbed three spots and is now at the fourth position amongst all-rounders, thanks to his consistent performances in the series.

Newcomer Dhruv Jurel jumps to 69th position

The Player of the Match, Dhruv Jurel, has made a remarkable improvement by moving up 31 places to the 69th position. His scores of 90 and 39 in the game have helped him achieve this career-best ranking.

Zak Crawley, England’s opener, has also made a significant stride by entering the top 20 for the first time. His scores of 42 and 60 have earned him a career-best ranking. 

The update also shows some spinners making career-best rankings, including Ravichandran Ashwin, who has narrowed the gap with the top-ranked Jasprit Bumrah to 21 rating points after an impressive five-wicket haul in the second innings.

Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has also achieved his career-best ranking by moving up ten places to 32nd. England’s Shoaib Bashir has also made an impressive career-best ranking by moving up 38 places to the 80th position.

Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz is a new name

In the Men’s ODI rankings, Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz has been the biggest mover. His excellent performance in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series in Kirtipur has lifted him to the 11th position with 642 ratings points, the highest position and points tally ever achieved by a Namibia player in ODI cricket.

He took four wickets for 31 runs against Nepal and two wickets for 15 runs against the Netherlands, which earned him a remarkable career-best ranking.

Cricket world cup league two is very competitive

The Netherlands’ Aryan Dutt continued his impressive form in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 matches.

Last week, he took six wickets for 34 runs against Namibia, and in the following matches, he took two wickets for 41 runs and three wickets for 16 runs, respectively. With these performances, he has moved up to the joint 36th position in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings for bowlers.

Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus achieved his career-best all-rounder ranking after his impressive performances in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

He scored a brilliant half-century of 52 runs against Nepal and picked up three wickets for 33 runs against the Netherlands in the subsequent match. This has propelled him into the top 10 all-rounders for the first time in his career.

Travis Head into the top 20 for the first time

In the T20I rankings, Australia’s Travis Head entered into the top 20 for the first time after his consistent performances in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. He scored 24, 45, and 33 runs in the three matches he played and has moved up six places to reach the 19th position in the rankings.

Singapore-born Australian cricketer Tim David also moved up the rankings after his impressive performance in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Scotland.

He played a quickfire knock of 31 runs off just ten balls in the first match of the series, which helped him climb six places to the 22nd position in the rankings. This was the first time he crossed the 600-point barrier in his career.

The top six bowlers in the rankings remained unchanged, with Pat Cummins leading the pack, followed by Trent Boult and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Josh Hazlewood is the only new entry in the top 10 rankings, after his impressive figures of 4-1-12-1 in the second T20I against New Zealand in Auckland.
