After receiving the Test mandate in 1982, 165 players have played for Sri Lanka. Amongst these players, some batsmen scored well, and some bowlers took wickets.

But amongst all these players, there are a few players who behaved like gentlemen both inside and outside the field.

10. Hettige Don Rumesh Lahiru Thirimanne

Born on August 9, 1989, in Moratuwa, Thirimanna has played in 44 Test matches. During that time, there is no mention of any bad behaviour on the playground. Also, there are no reports of him misbehaving after leaving the playground. He is an outstanding batsman. But unfortunately, he could not stay on the international cricket field.

9. Kulasekara Mudiyanselage Dinesh Nuwan Kulasekara

An excellent fast bowler from Sri Lanka. He is adept at using the ball’s seam to dismiss the batters. Also, a player who has done a lot of service to Sri Lankan cricket. This player, who is always smiling, has a good name amongst cricket fans.

8. Frank Dimuth Madushanka Karunaratne

7. Lokuge Dinesh Chandimal

Chandimal, 34, is a right-handed batsman—also a wicketkeeper. So far, he has participated in 77 Test matches.

Balapitiya is his birthplace. And everything was destroyed by the tsunami. Chandimal is a well-behaved player on the field.

6. Asanka Pradeep Gurusinha

Gurusinghe is now 57 years old. He lives in Australia. One of the best left-handed batters to have played for Sri Lanka. He could play only 41 Test matches. Under the leadership of Arjuna Ranatunga, they managed to win the 1996 World Cup. In that tournament, he was accepted as the former unofficial hero of the Sri Lankan team.

5. Marvan Samson Atapattu

A former Test cricket captain. Played for the team as an opening batsman. He is famous as the player who scored six ducks in the first six innings played. A very disciplined player. Also an amiable player.

4. Roy Luke Dias

71 years old. Sri Lanka has been in the team since the first test match in which they participated. Very famous for cover drive. He played only 20 Test matches. During his playing time, Sri Lanka got a few Test matches. A player who refused to participate in the tour of South Africa with Bandula Warnapura after Sri Lanka got Test status.

3. Roshan Siriwardene Mahanama

Roshan Mahanama is a name that is still read in the international cricket field. As a match referee. Represented the team in the most challenging times of the Sri Lankan team. A player in the 1996 World Cup-winning team. An amiable person. Roshan is doing a charity called Mahanama Foundation.

Age 67. Played 23 Test matches. A crush amongst the youth of that time. It is not because of cricket but because of his handsomeness. He always wore long-sleeved shirts. He did that because he was afraid of getting burned by the sun. Playing a test match for five days is not easy. He batted very restrainedly—an amiable player.

He was born in Kandy. Currently 64 years old. Same as Vettamuni. He played in long-sleeved shirts. A crush on women. A very popular batsman. He played 21 Test matches. He has also led the team. He is recognised as one of the best gentlemanly players in cricket. He is still working as a match referee in the International Cricket Council. Also, he is famous as a referee whom all cricketers respect. Also, I can be known as a straight decision-maker—an amicable person.
