Miss Universe, who brought fame to Nicaragua, was denied by the Ortega regime

It has become widely known that Shanice Palacios, a 23-year-old woman from Nicaragua, won the title of Miss Universe 2023, which has brought great fame to Nicaragua. It is common for a competition winner like Shanice to receive recognition and support from their home country and government. It is also normal for citizens to support recognising individuals who have brought honour to their country.

However, this young woman, who achieved such a remarkable feat, has faced unexpected challenges from her country. The Nicaraguan government has imposed strict conditions prohibiting her from entering the country. As a result, Shanice, the new Miss Universe, is currently staying in Mexico, dealing with the mental stress and anguish of being separated from her family and her country.

2023 Miss universe

Shanice was crowned Miss Universe 2023 at the Miss Universe pageant held in El Salvador. She humbly dedicated the honour to her motherland despite numerous sacrifices to achieve her victory. Unfortunately, rather than receiving recognition for her achievement, she was punished by her home country. The people of Nicaragua and the international community were shocked by the treatment she received from her country’s leaders. It is uncertain if Shanice will be able to return to Nicaragua, and for now, she is heading to Mexico after participating in the Miss Universe pageant held in El Salvador.

Daniel Ortega is the President of Nicaragua

In Nicaragua, a left-wing leader faced a protest movement against his rule in 2018. Unfortunately, the Ortega administration took severe measures to suppress this protest, leading to the reported death of nearly 300 people. Interestingly, during the Miss Universe pageant, it was announced that Shanice Palacios, who was crowned Miss Nicaragua, had actively participated in the protests above.

The essential character in this matter

Karen Celebrity, who is responsible for selecting Miss Nicaragua for the Miss Universe pageant, has become a central figure in a recent controversy. The Nicaraguan government has banned her from entering the country, accusing her of treason and involvement in anti-government protests. The government has also released photos and videos showing Karen participating in demonstrations and chanting slogans against the ruling class. This has caused a significant issue.

Karen participated in the 2018 protests

It has been alleged that Karen, the person responsible for selecting the contestant to represent Nicaragua in the Miss Universe pageant, showed favouritism towards the anti-government contestants. This allegation is based on the fact that Karen participated in the 2018 protests against the government.

After Shanice won the Miss Universe title, the Nicaraguan government initially congratulated her. However, later on, their position changed. Despite the government’s decision, the people of Nicaragua continue to accept Shanice’s win and celebrate by waving Nicaraguan flags.

Otega’s wife, Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo said

According to the Nicaraguan authorities, the recent victory of Shanice as Miss Universe is used by traitors to incite anti-government sentiments among the people. The regime led by Ortega has claimed that the gathering of people to congratulate Shanice is the beginning of an anti-government rebellion. The conspirators were looking for opportunities to act strategically, and the Miss Universe crown was used as a reason, as stated by Rosario Murillo, Nicaraguan Vice President and Ortega’s wife.

Considering that this is the first time a Nicaraguan has won a significant beauty pageant in the world, the ruling class in Nicaragua is under a lot of pressure to acknowledge Shanice’s achievement and give her the recognition she deserves. The Nicaraguan people are euphoric over Shanice’s victory, and their voices are strengthening.

The husband and son of Karen Celebrity

The director of the agency responsible for selecting Nicaraguan beauty contestants for the Miss Universe pageant has been arrested by Nicaraguan police, who have accused them of being part of anti-government conspiracies. In light of this situation, Karen has resigned from her position as director of Miss Nicaragua and reportedly fled to Mexico.

The 2018 struggle against the Ortega regime was a social situation created by several factors. The protests were against several government policies, such as raising taxes and cutting concessions. Many protesters demanded Otega’s resignation, emphasizing that he could not be accepted as a leftist. Despite the government’s efforts to suppress the protests, there are still signs that the underlying tensions have not been fully extinguished.

A leader of the anti-American camp, like himself

President Ortega has stated that the ongoing protests are part of an American conspiracy. He believes that the same conspiracy was behind the 2018 struggle. Otega has assured the public that he is committed to leading the country in the right direction and dealing with any situation that arises. He also emphasized that no one can change the government through conspiracies.

Meanwhile, moderates have pointed out that the opportunity for protests against the Ortega regime to start again in a new way is expanding. They believe that no individual can rule a country according to their will. Additionally, the moderates have raised concerns that the decisions made regarding Miss Universe could be seen as an attempt to summon evil quickly.
