Netflix television series
I intend to wright a review about this series because of the perversity caused by the destruction of the Bodies, which is currently broadcast on Netflix.
This limited series, which started to be broadcast in the United Kingdom on October 19, consists of eight parts. It has been written for television by British national Paul Tomlin. This is the television version of a graphic novel by Si Spencer.
The first four episodes were directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner, and the last four episodes by Haolu Wang.
Bodies are created based on the time travel theory and belong to the scientific and mystery genre. The main point of the series is that a person named Elias Mannix travels through time to the past, and the purpose of that journey is to destroy the city of London by blowing up a nuclear bomb.
Due to the style of the story and the chain of events, the audience cannot avoid wandering in a crooked grove.
By the end of the series, the audience cannot even imagine how long it will take to understand where it started and ended. This serial has succeeded in confusing the audience.
Commander Manix
The character of Commander Manix travels in three planes. In the year 2053, that is, in the future, we meet as Commander Elias Manix, and in 1889, we recognised him as Sir Julian Hacker until 1941, when he died in his old age. The story continues.
The story begins with a police investigation of a body suddenly found on a street in London. It is a naked male body. One eye has been shot. There is a mark with three lines on one hand. This body was first found in 1890. Also, in 1941, the same body was found again in the same place. It happened again in 1923. After that, this body will be found again in the year 2053, i.e. in the future.
Four detectives are stuck in a crisis that is difficult to solve while investigating this dead body found in the same place in four dimensions. Alfred Hillinghead in 1890. Charles Whiteman in 1941. In the year 2023, in the present we are living, a female police officer named Shahara Hassan is investigating this dead body. Her character spans the year 2053. That is the period that can be considered the story’s present day.
In 2053, the discovery of this mystery is entrusted to a detective, Iris Maplewood, by Elias Manix when a body is found on the street. No one knows whose body that is until Maplewood finds out.
Bodies TV series, which revolves around four detectives and Commander Manix and Professor Gabriel Defoe, who is later identified as the owner of the body found on the street.
Body on the London Street
Let us look at Commander Manix’s character in the story, which continues to flow like a ball of tangled threads. Manix is a middle-aged man in 2053, considered the story’s present day. This middle-aged man travels back to the year 1889.
From 1889 to 1941, he lived as Sir Julian Hacker; he was very old and died. Detective Whiteman shoots him on the bed.In the year 2023, Manix’s childhood can be identified as Elias. At that time, he was 15 years old. The father of this young Elias is the detective Danny Barber, who is Hassan’s protégé.
Julian Hacker, who lives in the past, marries the daughter of Hillinghead, who investigates the mysterious body of Gabriel Dafoe in 1890. Her name is Polly. Later, he is hanged to death.
The couple have a son. The son’s child is Dany Barber. Dany Barber is Elias Manix’s father. So Elias Manix is himself born from his own blood. Manix, who lives in the future, travels 163 years into the past and pretends to be Julian Hacker, reborn as his grandson.
In real life, I do not know how to explain that. However, anything can happen in the fictional story. Do not think about reality. Enjoy the fantasy.
It is said that the goal of Manix, who lives in the future, is to go back to the past and be reborn and, in 2023, destroy London with a nuclear bomb and build a new world. He says that he travelled through time to make the bomb that exploded in London in 2023 by himself as a child.
Nuclear bomb in the London
Nevertheless, the 15-year-old Elias Manix we see in 2023 does not want to do this destruction. So he helps Hassan to stop this disaster. This is a pitting of Manix against Manix himself.
According to the story, Gabriel Dafoe, a professor of quantum gravity who researched time travel, created a time travel machine in 2053. manix goes back in time in this time machine. When Manix goes back to the past in time travel, Defoe, who tries to stop the journey, shoots Manix in the leg. Manix’s leg is injured due to the accident caused by that shot—somehow, Manix managed to travel through time with that wound and landed on London street naked. Who lived in the past, walking with the help of a crutch until his death.
Professor Defoe is about to follow Manix back in time to stop him, but Maplewood shoots him before he jumps to the time machine. Maplewood trusted Manix at that time and thought Dafoe and Hasaan were terrorists. Maplewood shoots Defoe, and the bullet goes through one of his eyes. Defoe managed to jump to the time machine with a bullet wound and died while travelling through time and landed naked as Manix did before. His dead body is found on a street in London.
Commander Manix travelled through time to 1889 just once and lived until 1941. At the same time, Professor Dafoe’s dead body was found three times in the past. Maplewood finally finds his body in the future.
In 1890, Defoe went to the past through time to stop Manix from destroying London. However, Manix ended up on the ground in 1889, and Dafoe a year later, in 1890, unfortunately as a corpse. So, he is unable to stop Manix. However, in the year 2023, he could stop the bombing in London with the help of Hassan.
Hassan is the detective who found Dafoe’s body in 2023. She lived in the real world until 2053 and secretly fought against Commander Manix in 2053.
Complicated time travel theory
In the real world where Hassan lives, a bomb has exploded in London. Her son’s life is lost as well. Nevertheless, Hassan, who goes back to the past with Dafoe from the future to 2023, manages to prevent the bomb from detonating.
The last time Dafoe’s body was found was in 2053, the story’s present day. However, Dafoe does not die there. That time is the time when Dafoe lives in real life. So Detective Maplewood finds a living Dafoe as well as his body with a bullet wound in the eye. Maplewood herself took that shot.
All four detectives live in the real world. Only Elias Manix and Professor Dafoe are the people who travel through time. In 2053, Hassan and Maplewood went to the past through time.
Professor Gabriel Defoe can be identified as Manix’s archenemy.He is the one who knows the actual physics.
Time travel theory to a new dimension; this particular television series has been created very complexly. No one in any society can approve of the chain of events happening here. A person living in the future, going back to the past, and being born as his grandson can only happen in science fiction.
Time travel may never happen. Anyone can go back in time with only thoughts. That is because the past is a phenomenon we know. But from this topic comes fabulous creations in television and cinema. Bodies is its latest chain of thought.
Although fantasy stories have been seen in previous time travel films many times, however, bodies provide a complex knowledge that goes beyond that. The creators have made an extraordinary commitment to maintain this curiosity in eight episodes. After one episode, the addiction to watch the next episode happens automatically. It is a rare occasion to watch a series that weaves together theories and events so brilliantly. It is still being determined if there will be a second part of this television series, which ends like a riddle that cannot be solved.
