India kicked Sri Lanka out of the World Cup today at the Mumbai Stadium, revealing the actual state of Sri Lankan cricket to the world.
The Indian batters played with baby Sri Lankan bowlers and won the seventh match in a row. The decision of Sri Lankan captain Kusal Mendis, who won the toss and invited the Indians to bat, was continuously criticised by the critics.
Madushanka memorise Chaminda Vaas
Left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka dismissed Rohit Sharma in the first over.Madushanka bowled to the right target, like Sri Lanka’s veteran left-arm fast bowler, Chaminda Vaas. He has gotten a wicket in the first over, just as Chaminda Vaas did. Dilshan Madushanka is the only winner Sri Lanka has achieved in this year’s World Cup.
Despite Madushanka taking the first wicket, the Indian batters continued to take advantage of the lottery wins of Subman Gill and Virat Kohli as the Sri Lankan fielders dropped two catches. After dropping those two catches, the Indian batters started scoring very fast. In the end, they gave Sri Lanka a target of 357 runs.
But after that what happened to the Sri Lankan team? The Indian bowlers made fun of the Sri Lankan batters from the first over. The Indian batters could turn the Sri Lankan bowlers into babies while hitting the ball. Also, the Indian bowlers made the Sri Lankan batsmen into babies. No Sri Lankan batter could protect his wicket before the Indian bowlers. They could not even understand the Indian fast bowlers, though. In the end, the Sri Lankan team all out for 55 runs.
With this shameless loss, they are out of the World Cup, and there are even another two matches to play.
Why this happend
Who is responsible for this? According to the minister of sports in Sri Lanka. A few days ago, he had an interview with a Hiru television channel, Sri Lanka, and gave details about the management staff of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. According to him, the coaching staff included these names.
1)Director of coaching -Tim MacKenzie $15.200
2) Coach – Chris Silver wood $ 30.000
3)Feilding coach-Anton Kusch $ 8.000
4)strength and conditioning coach -Grant Luden $ 6.500
5)Physiotherapist-Chris Clark $ 8.000
6) strength and conditioning manager -Noel $ 8.500
7)Rehabilitation manager- Thihan $ 9.000
8)Consultant – Mahela Jayawardena $20.000
9)Naveed navaz ( No possession mentioned) $14.000
According to the sports minister Rohan Ranasinghe, the Sri Lanka team went to the World Cup with high-profile professional coaching staff with a high salary per month. Even Mahela Jayawardena has a 20.000 dollar salary for the month. But what happened at the end of the day? Nothing. The Sri Lanka cricket team and officials played with cricket lovers. After losing today to India. Why do Sri Lankan people love cricket any more?
This is not only Sri lanka
Once upon a time, there was a terrifying cricket team in the world. They were influential players. No other cricket team in the world to face them. They were cricket giants. Every batter fears to face their fast bowlers. Every bowler in the world is concerned about balling to their batters.
They shook the cricket world for a decade. Suddenly, that strong team fell apart day by day.
When today, that team despaired from cricket. What is that cricket team? It is the West Indies cricket team. They could not qualify for this year’s cricket World Cup. The world champions stay home watching the World Cup on the television. How sad this is. What happened to the West Indies cricket?
Due to the tyranny of power, the divisions between the players and the governing body, and the lack of government support, they got into that situation. Eventually, the people of that country got tired of cricket.
The same thing is happening today with Sri Lanka cricket. They won the World Cup in 1996. That era was the golden time of Sri Lanka cricket.
Fightting each other
After winning the World Cup, money started pouring into Sri Lankan cricket.
Some of the greedy people realised the dirty taste in this. They gradually took Sri Lankan cricket under their control. Some players and government officials also helped. Slowly, what happened to West Indies cricket started happening to Sri Lankan cricket, too.
Sri Lankan cricket gradually started to melt. The players began to divide. Problems started to arise between the government and the cricket body. Everyone was more interested in the money than cricket. By the year 2018, this situation became acute. Sri Lanka suffered extreme defeats.
Questions arose from unnecessary handshakes during the selection of the team. The cricket institute started acting as required by certain religious conventions. However, the game of cricket moved from one side to the other. There were more defeats than victories; no matter how many matches the team lost, it was not a problem for the money-greedy people.
Today, the maximum results have been achieved because of them. This is why the Sri Lankan team was embarrassed in the World Cup. Nothing more to happen.
People got angry
If this continues, in the next World Cup, the Sri Lankan team will have to watch the World Cup from home on television.
Even though such an unfortunate situation has arisen, the cricketing body is not giving it up. The power of these officials is so unlimited that even the government cannot control them.
If you watch the program, you will see how helpless the sports minister who participated in the discussion on the Hiru TV channel is. If the cricket institution cannot be put on the right track, the government should withdraw the state sponsorship for cricket.
The people there want to establish Sri Lankan cricket as their own private institution. The President of the Cricket Institute had recently said so in front of the media.
Otherwise, what should be done immediately is to take the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team under the Ministry of Sports. According to the sports constitution, if this is not possible, no one should participate as the Sri Lankan national cricket team in any upcoming international tournament. Then, the greedy cricket organisation can participate in any other team through its private organisation without the Sri Lanka flag.
