A dangerous bacteria known as Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome (STSS) is rapidly spreading in countries such as Australia and Japan.
This bacteria has the potential to cause more severe symptoms than the coronavirus. Experts warn that if the bacteria enters the human body in a severe form, it can lead to fatality within a period as short as forty-eight hours.
977 in Japan affected
The Japanese health department has confirmed that 977 individuals in Japan have been affected by a rapidly spreading bacteria. Furthermore, 77 people succumbed to this bacterial infection between January and March 2024.
Muscle dissolving
A muscle-dissolving bacterium is rapidly spreading in Japan, and the disease is predicted to affect another 1,500 people in the next six months.
The bacteria can spread from person to person, so the country’s health departments are taking measures to prevent it.
Doctors have identified the symptoms of this disease, which include a sore throat, limb pain, low blood pressure, organ dysfunction, and body swelling.
Given the substantial number of Japanese tourists travelling worldwide and people visiting the country, this deadly bacteria is more likely to spread to other countries globally.
Not yet a global pandemic
Currently, the virus has not escalated to the level of a global epidemic, and as a result, it has not garnered much international attention. Despite its spread in Japan, the World Health Organization has not officially announced it.
People must stay informed about the spread of this virus. Reflecting on the widespread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining healthy habits is imperative for all individuals to survive another potentially severe epidemic.
